[edit] Basic Formatting

Get everything you need to know about formatting text right here. Off the bat, here's some tips:

Make headers with equal signs:

Vice President
Nest headers under each other with additional equal signs:

Arguments for
would create a header nested beneath Vice President above.

Two brackets create a link to a page on Open Cabinet:

Vice President

To link to another webpage, use one bracket; first the URL, then a space, then the text you want linked.

and this text is linked and this text is linked

To link to an Open Cabinet Page but have the text be something else, do this

this is the linked text

An asterisk makes a bullet:

* This is now a bullet in a wiki.

This automatically makes footnotes:

footnote goes here

[edit] Building New Pages

Whenever you see red linked text, that means there's no content on the page yet. We have set formats for each type of page, offices and people. As/if this site grows, we may get more complex. But right now, this should be enough to get everyone started. Copy and paste this code into the page you want to create, keeping the headers and editing the default text to your heart's content.

[edit] Offices and Appointments

E.g., Secretary of Defense.

Obama Administration
* Firstname Lastname, office (D-DC)

McCain Administration
* Firstname Lastname, former Office (R-CT)

Bush Administration
* First Bush Appointee (2001-2007)
* Second Bush Appointee (2007-Present)

Clinton Administration
* Clinton Appointee

Give some background in this space about general consideration of this person, and if possible, cite the source where you first saw the name mentioned.

Arguments for
Write out the arguments for why this person would be a GOOD pick for the office.

Arguments against
Write out the arguments for why this person would be a BAD pick for the office.

Sometimes people are considered for multiple offices. In that case, rinse & repeat this info ABOVE the references in the article.
